Alan McGregor

    Alan McGregor is Director of the Training and Employment Research Unit
    (TERU) and Professor of Economic Development at the University of Glasgow. For well over 30 years he has been an active researcher on issues such as unemployment, area deprivation, skills and economic development. In addition to his academic roles he has acted in an advisory capacity with the House of Commons Committees on Scottish Affairs and on Work & Pensions as well as advising the Secretary of State for Scotland on Poverty. He is a member of an Expert Advisory group for the UK Commission for Employment and Skills. He is the independent chair of the National Delivery Group for Workforce Plus which brings together all Scotland's local employability partnerships.


    He sits on the Boards of a number of public bodies and not for profit social enterprises including Skills Development Scotland, Glasgow South East Regeneration Agency, Scottish Employability Forum, and Ayr United Football Academy Limited. He is the Chair of Economic Development Association for Scotland which represents agencies and practitioners in the public private and not for profit sectors.
