Karen joined the Pharmacy Industry after graduating, initially working in sales and marketing in various leadership roles. Latterly she held the position of Head of Clinical Nursing at Astra Zeneca(AZ), building the industry’s largest team who focused on delivering Chronic Disease Management services in partnership with the NHS. She Spent 16 successful years at AZ.
Karen is currently a part time student at Strathclyde University where she is studying for an MSc in Human Resource Management. Her interest in working with and through people to enable individuals to reach their potential and organisations to succeed, as well as a desire to build her own knowledge and understanding about Organisational Development, resulted in her choice of study. She recently spent 6 months in an Interim role working as HR lead for the ‘Health Support Services’ division within NHS National Services Scotland and this served to embed her learning.
Karen joined Skills Development Scotland in January 2010 as Head of Operations, West Region and she leads a large team of professionals who deliver IAG and have responsibility for the delivery of TFW and GRFW - National Training Programmes.
She enjoys active holidays such as skiing & cycling and spending time with her family and friends.
