Policy & Research

    The Glasgow Works Strategy has three headline objectives, to:-

    • Simplify the strategic structures for employability decision-making and align funding
    • Implement new commissioning arrangements for service delivery
    • Develop services to employers and individuals focussing on addressing key labour market issues on recruitment, retention, skills and diversity

    These web pages concern themselves with the first of these, and specifically with the streamlining of decision making.

    Background

    The Glasgow Works Partnership was formed in 2007 to replace the Welfare to Work Forum, and to take forward the Glasgow Works Strategy.  The Business Plan contained thirteen specific Actions, each of which was assigned a Champion and other contributors.  As the Strategy has been implemented, the work of the thirteen actions has been taken forward by members of the Partnership and by sub-groups which have developed around specific issues.

    There are currently 5 sub-groups who report into the Glasgow Works Partnership Board;

    • Ethnic Minorities Employment Policy Sub Group
    • MCMC Strategic Employability Sub Group
    • Mental Health Strategic Group
    • Employer Engagement Sub Group
    • Employment Planning and Implementation Group
