Child Poverty

During 2009 the Glasgow Works Child Poverty Group came together to outline the key factors affecting levels of poverty amongst children in Glasgow.

The sessions were chaired by Professor Gill Scott of the Scottish Poverty Information Unit and resulted in a wide ranging action plan for child poverty reduction.  The Action Plan is available to download here.

Following discussion at the Glasgow Works Partnership Board it was agreed that Glasgow Works would focus on assisting the implementation of the employability aspects of the Early Years Childcare and Extended Services Strategy being driven by the Director of Education and by contributing to the work of the Child Poverty Group chaired by Linda de Caestecker, Director of Public Health.
